The Lumpini Park in downtown Bangkok is not only one of the most famous parks in the Thai capital but it is also the largest and by far the most popular park in Bangkok.

Lumpini ParkThe name of this spectacular park comes from the name of place in Nepal where Buddha was born. In case you are not aware, Buddhism is by far the most popular religion in Thailand which is why the Lumpini park is named after a Buddhist landmark.

Lumpini Park - Location

The Lumpini Park is located in central Bangkok and it borders the Ratchadamari road towards the west, the Withhayu road towards the eastern section of the park, the Rama the fourth road towards the southern section and the Sarasin road towards the northern part of Lumpini Park.

Lumpini Park Attractions

One of the most popular attractions of the Lumpini Park is the big lake which can be found in the centre of this Bangkok Park. The park has become a favourite place for locals to relax and escape from the busy and hectic Bangkok city life.

One nice activity at the Lumpini Park is to rent a row or peddle boat at the lake and to enjoy a relaxing and smoothing time on the water.

A great time to visit the Lumpini park is during the early hours of the morning when local residents visit the park in large numbers as many will either jog or take part in Tai Chi. It’s a unique experience to be able to view these Tai Chi followers as they go through the Thai Chi movements in mass.

Please check with your hotel concierge for any shows that are often held at the Lumpini Park. These excellent shows filled with music are always much liked by both the local citizens as well as foreign visitors.

Lumpini Park is open every day however the park is closed during night time and the entrances are locked.
