The Erawan Shrine is a very famous and popular Buddhist shrine and is located outside the 5 star Grand Hyatt Erawan hotels. The location of the Erawan shrine is on the corner of Ratchaprasong and Ratchadamri Road in central Bangkok.
The Erawan Shrine is one of the more popular tourist attractions in Bangkok when one considers the number of tourists that visit the renowned Buddhist shrine. If you are lucky you will be able to enjoy a spectacular show which is frequently performed by local dance performers.
Erawan Bangkok - Dance Performance
These dancers perform at the Erawan shrine as they are hired by some of the more wealthy Thai visitors of the much respected shrine. They hire these dancers to perform at the Erawan shrine as they believe that this will make their wishes and prayers get answered.
Erawan Hotel Setbacks
Erawan shrine was constructed in the late 1950's at the time that the Erawan hotel was being built next door. The construction of the hotel seemed to be undergoing severe setbacks.
A famous Thai astrologer at the time was consulted as to what could be done to solve the situation that the builders were facing. The astrologer reviewed the situation and came with a solution which was that a shrine should be build next to the Erawan hotel.
Erawan Shrine - Construction
The construction of what is now known as the Erawan shrine began immediately. The people involved held the true believe that the shrine would solve all the problems and that it would prevent further accidents.
It seems to have worked as no real setbacks were encountered afterwards and no serious accidents happened and this has been accredited to the powers of the Erawan shrine.
Don't damage the Erawan Buddhist Shrine
The shrine was damaged by a mentally sick Thai person in March 2006. The Thai people that witnessed this horrible incident became so angry with the man that he was beaten to death on the spot.
The visitors of the Erawane shrine and most Bangkok residents have a very strong respect and love for the Erawan shrine and it came to no surprise that the person who had damaged the holy shrine got killed on the spot.
